There’s nothing like a horror story happening on the set of a horror movie. Haunted horror stories are chilling in themselves. What more if they occur on the sets of equally horrific cinematic tales?
Here are some of the creepiest haunted stories during the filming of horror movies.
Four Haunted Stories During Horror Movie Sets
Several scary things happened on the set of the remake of this classic horror movie. First, a dead boy washed up on the shore nearby its film location. Then the cast and crew would wake up at 3:15 in the morning – the exact time when the actual Amityville murders happened. Needless to say, everybody was shaken.
The stories from The Innkeepers horror movie set also sends major chills down the spine. While Director Ti West wasn’t that easily scared, the cast and crew were. During filming, television sets and lights would turn on and off by themselves. Doors would open and close randomly as well, with no one’s help. Crew members also suffered from having nightmarish dreams while staying at their real-life haunted hotel (It’s a wonder why horror film crews love staying in equally creepy places).
The Exorcist is one of the most horrifying films ever made. The haunted behind-the-scenes stories, were also very nerve-wracking. Prior to wrapping up filming, actor Jack MacGowran died. A few days after, two crew members followed. The entire set also burned down at some point.
Because of these events, director William Friedkin had to bring a priest to bless the set.
The Conjuring is a horror film based on the Perron family’s real and terrifying experiences with demonic beings in their own home. It also tells how paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren helped them through their ordeal.
During filming, some members of the family spent their time on the movie set. A lot of unexplained events happened, including sudden winds and a fire in the hotel where the cast was staying. These are the reasons why the Perron mother refused to visit the set.
