Sony Pictures just released the first full trailer for “Venom” at CinemaCon. It looks dark and intriguing, much like the character is. The film follows Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) and his descent from good-guy journalist to an “anti-hero” bent on enacting justice his own way (0r the symbiote’s). This is the first film in Sony’s Marvel Universe, which connects to Marvel Studios’ Cinematic Universe.
Watch the trailer below:
The teaser gave practically no details about Venom or the alien symbiote, which caused fans to worry. However, this trailer seeks to allay fears from Venom and Marvel fans alike. Venom’s appearance is the most chilling and exciting part of the trailer, because it’s just so accurate. The film is directed by Ruben Fleischer. Fleischer’s most notable work is the cult zombie film Zombieland. It also stars Riz Ahmed and Michelle Williams.
This isn’t the first time audiences will be seeing the character. Venom appeared for the first time in cinemas in the infamous Spider-Man 3, with Topher Grace playing Brock and Venom. With Spider-Man’s story rebooted, it was just right for Sony Pictures to also reboot the story of one of the most famous and well-loved villains from Marvel Comics. His costume is truer to the comic this time around.
Here are some of the early reactions on Twitter about the trailer. People are very excited. judging by the number of curse-ridden excited tweets over there.
